Here are the films that won big at this year’s Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon
The 16th edition of the Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF)’s Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon (MAMM) took place at Vancouver’s Playhouse on Friday, August 27, 2021.
MAMM16 made a triumphant live return as the gala became VAFF’s first in-person event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony had a limited live audience in attendance at the reduced-capacity venue to comply with COVID-19 restrictions. As a result, the screening and awards show were live streamed online to allow more people the opportunity to take part in this experience, making the evening the biggest MAMM edition to date with a total of more than two thousand attendees and online viewers.
Several films were recognized during the awards presentation. These shorts and ultra-shorts will be screened again at the 25th Vancouver Asian Film Festival in November. Here is the night’s full list of winners:
