In addition to screening films by Asian talent from Canada and around the world, VAFF remains committed to facilitating access to film industry experts and giving the public a chance to interact with creatives and executives through panels and discussions about a range of topics pertaining to the film industry.

Westcoast Triple Threat Creators Chat
Don’t miss out on this chance to see a showcase of talent come together to discuss representation in the industry as well as their own journeys. Panelists include shorts and features writer, director and producer Arnold Lim; documentarian, editor, writer, and director Kathleen S. Jayme; in addition to shorts, web series, and TV series actor, writer, and director Panta Molesh. This event will be held at 12 noon on November 5, 2022 at the Cineplex Odeon International Village Cinemas, third floor, 88 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC. Working with Virtual Studio vs Green Screen/VFX
Join us for a unique opportunity to learn about the insights of working with virtual studios and green screens/VFX as well as the future of these productions. Our panelists include Daniel Hsiu of Virtual Production House Vancouver, Gladys Tong of G Creative Productions Inc., and Kelsy Wittmann of Animism Studio. Working Below the Line at Hollywood North
This event is a must for anyone interested in the experiences of current crews on sets at Hollywood North. Panelists include Kat Ruston, a member of the IATSE 891 light department and Casey Chan, who has eight years in the industry behind her and is a member of the IATSE 891 grip department, and currently on the IATSE 891 executive board. Short to Feature to Netflix
The journey of The Paper Tigers has been an interesting one, from starting as a short to becoming a feature, and to finally landing on Netflix last year. Stop by to hear the story behind the cameras with director Bao Tran. The event will be held on November 6, 2022, at the Vancouver Film School, 151 West Cordova Street, Vancouver, BC, from 12:00 pm to 1:15pm.
VAFF Industry 3:1 presented by Canada Media Fund
Don’t miss this chance to speak with Canada Media Fund analysts to help guide you through preparing and accessing funding from Canada Media Fund programs. West Coast Lab – Writers-Directors Dialogue

Are you interested in learning more about the behind-the-scenes processes of several features and Canadian shorts programs screened this year at VAFF? Join us on November, 8, 9, and 10, 2022 at 6:00pm to listen in on the filmmakers’ thoughts about their films and representation. The hour-long events will be held virtually.
